Sec 2 Geographical Investigation
What is a hypothesis?
A good hypothesis is a
statement
-sated in a declarative from and not a question.
Boys are smarter than girls
A good hypothesis states an unexpected
relationship
between variables and clearly states a relation between variables
Using LED lights will
reduce
energy consumption.
Higher
income household use
more
energy
It MUST be testable
The level of energy consumption
It gives direction and provides focus for the field work
It is based on theory of literature reviews
What are the advantages and disadvantages of the sampling method?
Sampling is the process of selecting a
representative
group from the
population
under study. There are two types of sampling:
Random sampling
Random sampling is collecting data at random or irregular intervals/using a set of numbers generated from a number generator.
It is not a convenience sampling
Convenience sampling is selected because of their convenient accessibility and proximity to the research. In all forms of research ,it would be ideal to test the entire population ,but in most cases, the population is just too large that is impossible to include every individual
Advantages
Reduces
Biasness
-every person or every location /place has completely
equal chance
of begin selected.
Can be used with a
large population
It is
quick and simple
thus it saves time in data
Disavantages
Too
time consuming
Difficult to access all areas of study/difficulties in
contacting all members
of the sample
No information to the total population -
cannot generate
numbers
Systematic Sampling
