Temperament
Feisty Temperament
Children are very active, spirited

Traits: Intense, active, easily distracted, sensitive, irregular, moody
Eg. Sometimes behave really well but other times behaviour is not controllable, get out of hand
Suggestion: Caregiver can use redirection technique
Eg. Redirect the child’s attention to another playing material when a friend/classmate stole what he/she was playing with before
Fearful Temperament

Very attached to their caregivers, requires patient and step by step to deal with children with fearful temperaments
The children with fearful temperaments should not be neglected or pressured as it requires time for them to adapt to the changes

Flexible Temperament

Traits: Regular feeding & nap routine, very adaptable, positive moods, low sensitivity and low intensity
Flexible children does not straightforwardly ask or demand for attention. However they still need it as much as other children do.
They convey their needs and wants in quiet ways such as making eye contact, glancing towards their caregiver.
Need special & time-to-time attention —> won’t be confuse and get lost

Different types of Temperament: Easy, Difficult & Slow-to-warm
Easy: Positive mood, can adapt relative well to changes, regularity & predictability in routine patterns such as sleeping, eating & elimination.
Difficult: More negative mood; grumpy, frustrated etc.
Intense responses —> they have Low threshold , high intensity
Adapt slowly to changes/ environment
Irregular patterns of eating, sleeping etc. —> Their biological function is all over the place
Slow-to-warm: They react to changes with moderate intensity. (In the middle)
Need time but note too much time to adapt and take on new experiences/ knowledge
Moderate irregularity in routine patterns
