Special Education
Parc v. Commonwealth: 1972 / Started allowing special education classes/accommodations in public schools
RTI (Response to Intervention) 3 tier model for determining the special needs of special education services - RTI is consistent over time, intervenes as soon as a problem is seen
IQ model: Wait to fail model. Wait for students to fail and then they intervene.
Processes: IEP: Extensive and personalized/ 504 is a civil rights law (sanctions if not provided schools can actually lose funding)

Modifications: Changes made to curriculum or course work that better accommodates students with special needs.
Ex: Giving students fewer questions to work through or providing visuals instead of text for students
Accommodations: Changes made to the environment that a student works in to better accommodate the student.
Ex: Longer working time, extended thinking time, and a no distractions work space.
