EC "Primary" Practical Life & Sensorial

A Complete Cycle of Work

The WORK CYCLE is the Strongest in the Practical Life area where the child works with materials that reflect Common Every Day tasks in their culture and have clear specific steps.

Practical Life activities allows the child to relax , and focus on Process with clear concrete outcomes and to experience a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.

Practical Life lessons and activities are the key to a successful classroom.

OCCI (Order Concentration, Coordination, Independence)

The Tenants of the Practical Life Area:

Care of Self, Care of Environment, Grace & Curtesy, & Movement

Care of Self: Handwashing, Dressing Frames, Eating with Fork & Spoon, Control of Movement"Walking" Spooning, Tonging develope the hand and body for more concentrated (Fine Motor Movement)

Care of Environment: Setting the table, Washing the Table & Dishes, Tending the Garden, Caring for Plants & Pets.

Grace : Learnign Greetings, Offering sncak, Making sure chares and materials are restored.

Movement, Stand & Sit silently, caring objects and trays without dropping or spilling, walink on tape line, tip toe, around rugs and children. (Muscle Memory & Sharpens Critical thinking

Sensorial Materials cover all the senses: Touch, Taste, sight, Sounds, Hearing, Olfactory, Stagnostic

Training the Senses

Each Sensorial Material has a control of Error ( One Place for the Item) Use of Reasoning and Critical Thinking Sharpens his Judgement. Aesthetics (Nice to Look at) Lends to Movement Limits (Only one Apparatus in the classroom)

Video Lessons

Leaf Polishing (Natural Items Beautify the environment & Keeps Peace & Calmness)

Tweezing Cloves (Smell, OCCI)

Trinomial Cubes Sets the child up for Algebraic equations & Mental Match, Proportions and how they go together. (1st Presentation on lid and walk around table to view the cube on all different sides. The child really doing is A + B+ C (Squared)

Button Frame ( Promotes Independence & Care of Self)

Pink Tower (Foundational Lesson that Isolates the sense of visual discrimination by Size Only) Pink to attract the child. The child develops understanding of Materials in "Space" Child Developed Muscle memory, building larges to smallest and recognizes the control of error and observes the errors through the "Eyes" The eye recognizes error and the hand corrects it. The child will lay on the floor and look from the ground up and stand for a birds eye view to recognize errors and build muscle memory for discerning visual size. Control of Movement is needed for the child. Child is building the mathematical brain as well. ( No Language in 1st Lesson, add language Smallest lightest, heaviest, the more they interact with the lesson.

Geometric Cabinet ( Circle Tray) 6 Drawers: Square, Triangle, Circle, Polygon, Curved figures, Introductory tray. Bottom is blue so the child knows the inset goes into the frame. Leads to Geometry. Circle tray Introduces them to diameter. Cards come with a thick, Thinn outline and filled in shape. and order them from largest to smallest. Trains the hand and eye for visual discrimination of size. Trains the hands and muscle movements.
