SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE
MODULAR DESIGN??
Our design should be a solution that is flexible and can be repeatable for the given similar cases and have ability to customization as per the aesthetic taste of the family. So, definitely we should go for it.

INNOVATIVE / ARCHITECTURE??
Idea 1: House that can be changed with the season....just like Deciduous trees. or Metamorphosis
Idea 2: Self-sustaining Biome
Smart city concept to be incorporated if Butwal area
Idea 3: Idea from any Material Exploration/Expression
POROSITY IN ARCHITECTURE
TIME SCHEDULE ( Can we do one whole week research and one whole week invest our time in design ideas??)
I think it will be late.
Thurs- Frid: Research and finalizing site /2 days
Saturday-Sunday: Conceptualization /1-2 days
Monday-Tuesday: Planning/ 2 days, Rough 3d modeling /2 days
Wednesday: Drafting plan for 3d /1 day
Thursday-Saturday: Drafting the remaining in detail: 3 days, Ppt board planning: 3 days, 3d- Modelling: 3 days at max.
Sunday-Monday: Rendering/skp. model jpg and illustrations/ 2 days, ppt board preparation /2 days
Tuesday-Wednesday: Cushion period /2 days
RESILIENT DESIGN
Resilient = being prepared for the unexpected, about keeping safe during emergencies, and about bouncing back (and, yes, bouncing forward) from disturbances.

DESIGN CHALLENGE & OPPORTUNITIES
BUTWAL
Design Problems:
- Modern RCC buildings in practice without proper design and planning. Lack of context.
- Dampness due to humid hot climate and homes Infested by insects like mosquitoes and others.
- These are urban areas so if we are consider pandemics, urban residents more exposure to infectious disease.
Opportunities:
- Proper planning with consideration of the climate. Need of Critical regionalism.
- Material selection to avoid damages due to sun and dampness. Use of Jalis in creative way.
LALITPUR
Design Problems:
- Identity Crisis : Conflict between Modern and Traditional building
Opportunities
1.
MUSTANG
Design problems:
- Flat small houses with small windows often create very dark interior. This causes more use of artificial light
- Located in Remote area so people living there has more chance to die if infected.
Opportunities:
- Introduce creative way of lighting.
- Use locally available resources as much as possible.

Cultural background
I like idea change and flexibility that house posses, and self sufficiency model so we'll try to incorporate them in our design.
Let's make a system, which is applicable in all regions as a our major concept which should address human inter dependencies ( basic needs),
and promotes self sufficiency.

Effective emergency response
Passive survivability
achieved through high levels of insulation, passive solar design features, cooling-load-avoidance strategies, natural ventilation, daylighting, and other passive design features.

Future of living???
Measures for Social Distancing
Rethink balconies
As spaces for rituals like bhaitika, sleeping, talking with neighbors, garden, porches, as outer skin

Thermal mass, insulation, material, width,
U value, glass(single/double layer), jalis, doors, shutters, perforated walls, grills,
Possibility of using earthen cones as new facade cooler??
Unhealthy practice of discarding locally available materials
lets see if thinking and creating solutions in macro level is feasible or not...depending on the limited time we have.
Are we going to show overall system in terms of a flowchart diagram...or illustrate in picture form
Landscaping can change micro climate of a place
Self shading geometry. circular geometry has less S/V ratio.
Water elements
Avoid stagnant water pools...becomes a breeding place for mosquitoes
Active systems will also be needed...like AC, solar panels, solar water heater
