Definition- Informal assessment meant to monitor students learning by providing feedback and adjusting instruction to improve their learning.
Definition- Formal assessment meant to evaluate students learning at the end of a unit or six weeks. These are usually worth a lot of points.
Essay- Written by students to explain their knowledge of the unit or six weeks.
Midterm/ Final Exam- Cumulative exam with content from a long period of time.

Debates- Teaches students about various viewpoints while acquiring skills like research, evidence, and reading skills.
Definition- A form of testing in which students perform a test to demonstrate knowledge instead of completing multiple choice test.
Report- Requires students to use higher levels of thinking such as synthesis, and analysis.
