Etiology: venous obstruction, local disturbance in bone growth, altered calcium metabolism and ischemic marrow necrosis
Transmission: Na
Characteristics: increased swelling, no pain, scalloped cyst, root resorption, loss of lamina dura, cortical expansion and cortical thinning
Dental Implications: may continue to expand and increase in size when not detected in early stages; must be drained to begin healing
Treatment: opening the cyst, once the blood cavity is emptied, the bone will repair itself
Prognosis: defect usually fills in within 6months to a year
