Tangible Manifestations
School Uniforms
Whole School: The color Orange is what all of the inmates wear and to them, it is the symbol of oppression. Tan and Brown are the colors the corrections officers wear and they are considered to be the colors of the oppressors. Teachers must be in business casual attire but no Orange, Tan or Brown colors are allowed.
Ceremonies
Whole School: The graduation ceremonies are something that all students look forward to. This is a time to celebrate their success in getting their High School diplomas, GEDs or passing their mandatory Functional Literacy requirements.
Symbols
Whole school: The school mascot is a Turtle and the quote that goes with it is: "It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop." Confucius. Handcuffs and prison bars are also symbols of oppression for them.
Traditions
Whole School: Each race and religion have their traditional days or times of the week to worship, fellowship or come together.
Rituals
Whole School: Celebration of certain National Holidays due to their significance. Ex. Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year's Day, Juneteenth, Cinco de Mayo, April 20th (National Pot Smoking Day and Adolph Hitler's birthday.

Aims
Whole School: The mindset is to get their High School diploma, GED or pass the mandatory Functional Literacy requirements as quickly as possible.
Mission and Vision
On the yard, each race has a written Mission and Vision statement that they try to abide by. As inmates, the Mission and Vision is to: do your time and quickly as possible and go home."
Assumptions
Teaching Staff: We want every student to succeed and accomplish their educational goals but the stark reality is that many of the students use the education department as a way to get off the yard for 3 hours a day.
Values
Whole School: "Education is the key to unlock the door of freedom!"
Strong Beliefs
Each race strongly believes in sticking together, helping each other, protecting each other, emphasizing their cultures and improving their status on the yard.
