Anaemia (decreased PCV, HCT, Hb, RBC) - Coggle Diagram
Anaemia (decreased PCV, HCT, Hb, RBC)
-
Clinical signs
-
-
haemic heart murmur
soft with a maximum grade 2/6, located at the left heart base
-
-
-
-
-
Regenerative
-
-
-
Reticulocyte % x patient PCV / normal PCV (45% in dog, 35% in cat)
-
-
-
If regeneration appears inadequate then full haematology and reticulocyte count should be repeated 3-5 days later
-
-
-
Patients with haemolytic or chronic non-regenerative anaemia are generally euvolaemic and signs of decreased oxygen carrying capacity
Transfusion of whole blood, packed RBC or haemoglobin based oxygen carrying solution
RBC abnormalities
-
Shistocytosis
RBC fragments that have resulted from blood being forced through abnormally narrow passages or physically traumatised
-
-
-
-
Heinz bodies
-
caused by oxidation -> denatured, precipitated Hb
-
causes
-
-
Splenectomised animals, after corticosteroid therapy and patients with severe splenic dysfunction
-
