VERTEBRATE ANIMALS
Vertebrates can be classified in 5 different groups.
Mammals
Most mammals have four legs.
All mammals breathe air with their lungs.
Mammals are viviparous(the baby developes inside the mother´s womb) and Young mammals drink their mother´s milk.
Most mammals have hair or fur on their bodies.
There are different kinds of mammals.Most of them live on land, some live in water(aquatic mammals) and a few such as the bat can fly.
BIRDS
Some birds live on land and in the wáter. They have webbed feet to help them swim.For example ducks.
Birds have feathers.
Birds don´t have teeth. They eat with their beaks.
Birds breath air with.
Most birds can fly but a few cannot. Penguins cannot fly and use their wings to swim.
Birds are oviparous.
FISH
They are covered with scales.
They breathe air through their gills.
Fish are oviparous animals.
Baby fish, called fry, can swim as soon as they hatch from the egg.
Fish are aquatic animals that cannot live outside water.
REPTILES
Most reptiles are terrestrial(live on land) but some are aquatic, for example marine turtles.
Their skin is covered with scales.
Most reptiles have four legs but snakes don´t have legs.

AMPHIBIANS
Amphibians are oviparous.
Amphibians have a bare skin.
Adult amphibians breath through their lungs and their skin. For example frogs.
Tadpoles are baby amphibians that live in water and breath through gills.
Most amphibians have four legs and some also have a tail.
All vertebrates have an internal skeleton made up of bones. The skeleton includes a backbone.
