Public examinations in Legal English
the Test of
Legal English Skills (TOLES)
can now be taken at three levels:
x TOLES Foundationreferring to A2-B1 levels (CEFR),
x TOLES Higherreferring to B1-B2 levels (CEFR),
re-writing a letter (working on the appropriate register),
x TOLES Advancedreferring to B2-C1 levels (CEFR)

extracts from legal text books, legal documents (multiple choice or gap filling
redrafting from “legalese” into modern, plain English,
transformation exercises testing knowledge of word families verb, noun, adjective, etc., of the same root).
