Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs): reports often used during the planning stage of a large development projects, which would change the use of land
(Weigh up the advantages and disadvantages of development)
- Scoping: making sure the EIA is focused on the environmental issues and possible effects
- Baseline Study: Assesses what the environment is like at the moment, detailed survey of the flora and fauna in the area
- Predicting the scale of potential impacts: what potential impacts may occur?
Temporary impacts: environmental impacts that occur during the production phase as a result of temporary access roads, heavy construction traffic, noise pollution, etc.
-
- Mitigation: limiting the effects of impacts to acceptable limits
- The Environmental Statement: A report needs to be produced that is based on the information gathered
