3D printers
they can make solid objects that actually work, it is made up layer by layer using materials such as powdered resin, powdered metal, paper, ceramic powder.
3D printers use additive manufacturing - where the object is made up layer by layer, or they use subtractive manufacturing - removal of material to make the object
direct 3D printing - uses inkjet technology - the print head moves left, right, up and down which builds up the layers
binder 3D printing - this uses two passes for each of the layers, the first one sprays dry powder and the second one passes a binder which is kind of a glue, is sprayed to from a solid layer

inkjet printers
usually made up of a print head which consists nozzles which spray droplets of ink on to the paper to form characters
it also consists of an ink cartridge - blue, yellow and magenta of it consists of black and these three colours
a stepper motor and belt which moves the print head assembly across the page from one side to another

loudspeakers/headphones
sound is produced from a computer by passing the digital data through a digital to analogue converter and then through an amplifier and finally sound emerges from a speaker.
the sound is produced by voltage differences vibrating a cone in the speaker housing at different frequencies and amplitudes
the rate at which the DAC can translate the the digital output into analogue voltages is known as the sampling rate

light projectors - there are two common types of light projectors. digital light projectors and LCD projectors
a bright white goes through the DLP chip and is split into the primary colors - red, blue and green.
the ON and OFF states of each micro mirror are linked with colors from the filter to produce the colored image.

DLP projector
DLP uses micro mirrors and they way they are placed defines its resolution of the image. micro mirrors are on when facing the light source and off when they are facing away from the light source.
LCD and LED monitors
LCD (liquid crystal display/diode) - the front layer is made up of the monitor is made up of liquid crystal diodes; these tiny diodes are grouped together in three of fours knows an pixels.
modern LCD monitors are back lit using LED technology. this gives the image better contrast and brightness. before LED, LCD's used cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) as a back lighting method
future LED technology is making use of organic light emitting diodes (OLED's). these use organic materials such as carbon compounds to create semi-conductors which are very flexible. organic films are placed between two charged diodes that give off light when an electric field is applied.

3D cutter
cuts materials such as - glass, crystal, polymer, wood, metal
