Iron Man (May 2, 2008) first comes to theaters setting up the MCU.
•First time Iron Man has appeared in a live-action performance
•Ironman is the first ever movie to include a post credit scene to setting up an opening to bring in other characters into its universe, set up for a sequel, or even just give other actors cameos in the film
•Post credit scenes start being used by other film companies later on
The Incredible Hulk (June 13, 2008)
•The Incredible Hulk holds the weakest performer of all the MCU movies
2010-2011
Iron Man 2 (May 7, 2010)
•Brings in Black Widow
(Scarlet Johansson)
being the first
female super hero in the MCU
•Brings in War Machine (Don Cheadle) as the MCU's first black super hero
Thor (May 2, 2011)
Captain America: The First Avenger (July 19, 2011)
•Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) is one of the stronger non-super hero characters in the MCU.
•Peggy Carter later on gets her own TV show known as Agent Carter
2012-2013
The Avengers (May 4, 2012)
•End of MCU phase 1
•First time that Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, and Black Widow team up on the big screen
•First time that characters from totally different movies came to gather in one movie to create a shared universe
-Starts the trend of having a shared cinematic
universe.
-Even DC is trying to do this starting with 2013's Man of Steal, Introducing Ben Affleck's Batman and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman to 2016's Batman vs. Superman, bringing everyone together in 2018's Justice League, and 2019's Shazam tied to the universe through Henry Cavill's Superman in a cameo at the end
Iron Man 3 (May 3, 2013)
•Start of MCU phase 2
•Pepper Pots (Gwyneth Paltrow) gets promoted to CEO of Stark Industries showing her growth as a professional throughout the Iron-Man films
Thor: The Dark World (November 8, 2013)
Agents of Shield
•First MCU tv show
•Includes Sky/Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) who eventually becomes the inhuman known as Quake
•Quake becomes one of the first women in the MCU appear with super powers.
2014-2015
Captain America:
The Winter Soldier (April 4, 2014)
•Falcon (Anthony Mackie) is the second black superhero to enter the MCU. He will be getting a TV show with the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) known as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier which comes out August 2020
Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1, 2014)
•The MCU starts bringing in characters that aren't as well known into the franchise
•Although Nebula (Karen Gillan) becomes good in the second movie, in the first one she is the first female villain to appear in any MCU film
Avengers: Age of Ultron (May 1, 2015)
Ant-Man (June 29, 2015)
•End of MCU Phase 2
Agent Carter
•Agent Carter is the second tv show linked to the MCU
•Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) is the first female charachter to get a lead role of any kind
2016-2017
Captain America: Civil War (May, 2016)
•Start of phase 3
•Brings in Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman)
who gets his own solo film.
•Introduces Tom Holland's Spider-Man to the MCU
Doctor Strange (November, 2016)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May 5, 2017)
Spider-Man: Homecoming (July, 2017)
•Marvels 3rd attempt at making Spider-Man movies
•In the year 2000 Sam Raimi's Spider-Man was the first attempt at making a Spider-Man movie and was a huge success
•In 2012 Sony came out with a reboot of Spider-Man known as The Amazing Spider-Man. The Amazing Spider-Man was originally going to become the Spider-Man of the MCU, but Sony wanted someone younger so they decided to do another reboot
•The MCU doesn't do another origin story for Spider-Man because they have already done it twice
Thor: Ragnarok (November, 2017)
•Hela (Cate Blanchett) is the first female lead villain in any MCU movie
2018-2019
Black Panther (February, 2018)
•Introduced in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) was the first black character to get a lead roll in any of the MCU movies
Spider-Man: Far From Home (July, 2019)
•End of phase 3
Aunt-Man and the Wasp (July, 2018)
Avengers: Endgame (April 2019)
•Currently holds the spot of highest
grossing film at $2.8 billion
Captain Marvel (March, 2019)
•Captain Marvel is the MCU's first female character to get a lead role in any of their movies
Avengers: Infinity War (April, 2018)
DC comes out with 2019's Shazam,
but because it wasn't Marvel people didn't appreciate it as much as they should have.
•Marvel has now set the standards for what superhero should be like on screen whether it is in a movie or tv show
