PRESENT TENSE - Coggle Diagram
With the verbs that end with a consonant, the y is cut and -ies is added. If a vowel precedes the and only -s is added:
we fly _ nosotros volamos
he flies _él vuela
they play _ellos juegan
she plays_ ella juega
Most verbs simply get the ending -s:
I live _Yo vivo
He lives _ Él vive
To the verbs that end with -o, -sh, -ch, -ss, -x and -z are added -es:
she goes _ella va
it reaches_ eso alcanza
In the present tense if the subject of the verb is of the third person singular (he, she, it), -s, -es or -ies are added. If the subject is someone else's (I, you, we, they), these endings are not added.
With few exceptions (like the verb be) English verbs have only four or five forms of conjugation and two of those are from the present simple tense. This lesson is about those two.
