chronic neglect
Young children who experience significantly limited caregivers
• May sustain range of adverse physical and mental health consequences.
Produces developmental impairments

Severe neglect in a family context
• on going absence of serve and return interaction often associated with failures to provide basic needs.

Severe Neglect in an institutional setting
•”warehouse like” conditions with many children but a few caregivers
•lack of individualised adult responsiveness leads to severe impairments in cognitive, physical, and psychosocial development.
