Blending is the putting the sounds of the syllable together to read the word more fluently. This is something that happens over time with practice
It is better to teach blending with "sat" or "rat" because the onset sounds can be held longer until the rime can be connected

Morphological Development Children learning to acquire and use small units of meaning, such as adding "s" and "ed" to the end of words to change their context
Words are made of morphemes which are the smallest units of language, like "in, come, -ing" creating "incoming"
This includes decoding which is using the knowledge of letter-sounds and patterns to read written words
Fluency is a part of decoding, and is about children using all of their knowledge about words to better understand them, and comprehend what they are reading, It is not about speed, it is about efficiency.
