ASSESSMENT:

ALL-IN

Students will deconstruct a World Series of Poker match and determine the probability of a series of hands and attempt to attach value to each one.

LORDS of VEGAS

Students research half a dozen casino to learn their house-vs-guest odds, and provide a rudimentary explanation as to how those odds have been determined.

'WITS and WAGERS'

Students make 'educated' guesses - and bid/bet on other students' guesses on trivia that /nobody/ knows the answer to, e.g. How many rosettes on an oreo cookie wafer.

This 'low-stakes' activity will help familiarize students with language in a fun and relaxed way.

'ROLL to 100'

Students will role two dice fifty times, chart the results, and compare to pre-assigned probability distribution to determine accuracy.

'Sixes' is in which students write six answers to questions like, 'Name six prime numbers', or 'Write six logarithmic equations', or 'Write six ways to calculate areas,' or 'Write the names of six cities in which their populations are at least twice that of __ (city)', etc.

Students score points for filling out their pages and in some rounds score additional points for having the same answer as others, and in other rounds they score additional points for having unique answers.

Space Base

In the event that this activity proves to be too simplistic, the cards from 'Space Base' will graded for balance.
