Title Ideas:
Are you an immigrant or are you British?
Is nationalism a good thing in 2020?
Black Lives Matter, Identity and Ancestry
I'm not British in Britain, I'm an immigrant in my home country
Black Lives Matter focus
Liberal perspective, supporting movement, short segment interviewing people who started the protest.
Speak to Nevada or Louise, Talking heads
Speak to someone who is very active on social media like Megan. Zoom
I am learning from black people who lead the local protest while also speaking to a liberal girl who is very supporting, so I the slightly left leaning objective white guy is learning.
The questions
Why is identity important with issues like racism?Do you think a focus on identity and race be divisive or is it necessary to defeat racism?
- Point out that black people are already prejudiced by the color of the skin so they must cover it
- The protest signs of one race the human race: We are not treated as one race though
At the end of the segment, promote petitions and anti racism campaigns
-
Focus on Irish heritage
Introduce myself at home and also being from Luton:
Being assumed as English, but feeling Irish in England
Feeling English in Ireland
Have irish things around the house demonstrated, Mia's banjo in the background
I want to ask other people 2nd 3rd generations who they feel they are, not what their passport says.
This section will be smaller as i dont want to seem like a complainer, but mention being irish and how the british have tormented ireland
Speak about the no blacks no irish and no dogs as a segway, Black people are still treated different because of their skin, its not fair when we now both have the same passport(This point will be the most liberal and activist)
-
Does what your passport say really matter in terms of identity, you can live in a country and gain the nationality. I can pay to change mine.
Wrapping up
We see that even if you are not very nationalistic, you will still get judged for the race you are, or you wont and blend into the country
From what ive learnt its clear change has to be made in terms of racism, so that one day where you come from wont matter and we can be one race, the human race
Make sure its liberal.
These are ideas, make a judgement at the end
Timeline:
Are you an immigrant of are you british?
I want to disover just how important nationality is in 2020
My background
Interview multiple people about their race, Speaking to people about race etc.
That being said although Irish people are accepted part of British society why no black people (link through no irish...)?
BLM segement
Give a final judgement about being a third/second generation also in relation to defeating racism
link BLM causes.
