Orbital change/Eccentricity - Over time the world's orbit around the sun will change from circular to oval. Oval is colder because the earth is further away form the sun.
Sun spots - There are dark spots on the sun called sunspots that are solar storms. The more there are the hotter it gets. They increase over 11 years then decrease, this is called sunspot cycles.
Volcanic eruptions - Large amounts of material is released into the atmosphere, this reflects sun rays back into space and cools the earth.
Adaptation/Mitigation
Mitigation, ways to prevent climate change from happening
International agreements - When countries agree to reduce their carbon footprint, reduces C02 and therefore stops the negative effects.
Can be ineffective if a lot of countries don't agree, like the US pulling out of the Paris climate agreement.
-
Carbon Capture is when power plants capture the C02 and store it somewhere else so it doesn't go into the environment.
Adaptation, dealing with the effects of climate change
-
Changing agricultural systems for example, drought resistant crops.
Can make food costs rise, meaning some people go hungry.
