Red group - Electricity 1
Electricity
Electricity is made when electrons move.
Voltage
Static electricity
Static electricity is made when electrons build up on an object and cannot be transported elsewhere yet
usually happens when rubbing object on another object
Current electricity
Current electricity is when electricity moves like a current
Circuits
Conductors & insulators
Conductors:
Easy to transport electrons through
most metals are great conductors
copper, iron, bronze, steel
The most common way to conduct electricity with human technology is metal wires
Insulators
Does not allow easy transport of electrons
most non-metals
plastic, rubber, glass and wood
Charges
Posetive charge
Happens when there are more protons than electrons
.
Negative charge
Happens when there are more electrons than protons
The two different charges are attracted to each other (magnetism)
Neutral charge (isn't really a charge)
Happens when there are a equal amount of electrons and protons
The protons and electrons cancel each other out to create a neutral charge
