Vaginal Bleeding
Spotting is usual
Heavy bleeding is unusual
Miscarriage - signs - Heavy bleeding with menstrual like cramps
ectopic pregnancy - fertilised egg develops outside uterus - signs - bleeding, cramps combined with lower abdominal pain
The brighter red the bleeding, the more significant it is.
Excessive
Nausea and Bleeding
Usual in first trimester
To call doctor if dehydrated and excess nausea
May interfere with day to day activities - weight loss, dizziness
Due to increase in level of estrogen
Miscarriage
80% happens in 1st trimester
Causes - Chromosom disorders / infections /anatomic issues
/ obesity / blood sugar / alcohol consumption/Food poison
Symptoms - vaginal bleeding with pain in lower abdomen
Physically and emotionally painful
Constipation and Diarrhoea
Digestion slows down - so constipation
Diarrhoea - due to change in diet / nutrient supplements / stress
Diarrhoea - common in 3rd trimister
Difficulty In Breathing
Increase in the level of progesterone
Need for more oxygen to the body
May be continued throughout pregnancy
Third trimester - cause - uterus size
Multiple / Twin
Pregnancy Complications
Vanishing twin syndrome
Disappearance of one of of the embroys
Anxiety / grief in mother / family
Parasitic Twins
Two embryos develops joining together
in sometime, one of the embroys stops developing
Conjoining Twins
Creates anxiety in mother / family
Embryo partially separates to form two individuals
Hormonal Changes
Estrogen - Improves vasculariazation, Development of the baby
Progesteron - Laxity of ligaments / joints / organs such as uterus
Skin Pigmentation
Sensory Changes
Sense of taste
Dysgeusia - Decrease in the ability to taste
High threshold for sour / salty / sweet foods
Metallic taste in the mouth
Indicates nutrient imbalance
Sense of Smell
Increasing in sensitiveness to odours
Sense of vision
Blurred / short sightedness
Regain their pre pregnancy eye sight post delivery
Melasma
Dark pigmentation of facial skin
Disappeares after breast feeding
Hyperpigmentation - inner body parts - common - disappears post delivery
