Sharing the Planet UOI 4 C.I - We have the responsibility to protect minibeast and their habitat. Lines of Inquiry: 1. Life cycle of the mini beast ( Change ) 2. How mini beast survive in their habitats ( Connection) Learner Profile: Caring & Inquirer ATL: Research Skill
Art
First Week Plan: Showing of mini beast pictures and observe looks, colors, similarities and differences. And students can also go outside to look for real mini beast. And state their observations
Student Agency: using different materials ( loose parts) in class , students will explore creation of chosen/favourite minibeast.t

2nd week Plan: HuYing will build connections into story read in class. She can empower the story by giving the students chances to create the minibeast in the story using recyclable materials.( K2 teachers suggestions)
Group Activity : using different natural materials to build the mini beast habitat as a group ( 2nd line of Inquiry)
Dance
First week plan: Start the day with a provocation: Minibeast hunting - North campus will be searching minibeast along the grassland area close to the kindergarten. South will be using the back side area of the kindergarten where buses are parked. Then basing from the mini beast that students discovered dance and movements will be organise.
Second week till end - Dance / movements will be patterned into the story that K2 teachers will be focusing in class to build strong connections. K2 teachers decided to focus on same stories in every classes for consistency of dancing movements and less stressful for Millie either. ( k2 teachers Suggestions)
Student Agency: Student will act or imitate the movement of the mini beast based upon observation and understanding.

K2 teachers will update Dabao regarding the focus story of the week. And he can do loco motor/non-loco motor movements in accordance to the story.

Student Agency : students will imagine and follow the movements of the minibeast ( such as jump like a grasshopper, march like an ant, crawl like a caterpillar etc.)
Library

Go deeper into the read story by asking questions about characters, settings , problem , solution . Try to make as a routine to review the past story using different teaching materials in the classroom.

read a story about protecting mini beast life and habitat , as a reflection students create own poster reflecting their understanding on ways to protect mini beast habitat. ( K2 teachers suggestions)
Note: Please don't cover ' The very Hungry Caterpillar Story' and let us know in advance your choices of stories so we wont touch these during our UOI time. ( K2 teachers suggestions)
we believe that we can give your more info about the interest of our k2 students to make you library time more interesting, so please don't hesitate to approach us . We can organise as a team to meet with you.
Students Agency: -( research skill) visiting the library, students will be expose to loads of mini beast books and make their own research about the minibeast they like and sketch it.
