WEATHER AND NATURAL DISASTER
difference between "climate" and weather.
"weather" is the occurrence of nature every day ... the situation of every day.
For example "it's raining today".
"Climate" is the pattern over usually we talk about a year. Each season has its own climate; rainy, hot, humid...
difference between "flood" and "drought"
A "drought" is what happens when a region or place does not receive water, it does not rain for a very long period of time. Everything dries up, all crops, all wheat and rice and everything dies. Sometimes this leads to a famine.
"flood" is when it rains a lot or the snow of the mountains melts very quickly, the water arrives in a low or flat point and the earth cannot absorb all the water ... in this way the water floods everyone the buildings.
earthquake and tsunami
"Quake" basically means shake. An "earthquake" is when the earth shakes.
after an earthquake in the sea and near the sea a tsunami occurs. "Tsunami" means harbor wave. It's basically a big wave or a big series of waves that after the earthquake, all the water in the seas or the oceans starts moving around, sometimes it moves on to the land and just destroys everything.
in the weather programs you can see blue lines with moving semicircles and red lines with moving triangles.
the blue lines indicate that a very cold mass of air is about to arrive.
the red lines indicate that a very hot mass of air is about to arrive.
difference between "blizzard" and "squall"
a "blizzard" is a very heavy snowstorm.
a "squall" is like a "blizzard" but it arrives suddenly, it does not last long and is very intense.
there are different types of storm ... ice storm, sand storm, thunderstorm storm, hail storm and rain storm.
differences between hurricane, typhoon, cyclone, tornado and monsoon.
the typhoon is a great storm that surrounds the earth and destroys everything. It occurs in the Pacific Northeast.
the cyclone is a great storm that surrounds the earth and destroys everything. It occurs in the southern Pacific and Indian oceans.
the hurricane is a great storm that surrounds the earth and destroys everything. It occurs in the Atlantic Ocean and in the Pacific Northeast.
the tornado is like a hurricane but it is very localized, very small and unlike the first three this occurs on earth.
the monsoon is a very heavy storm affecting india and south east asia.
mudslide, avalanche and volcanic eruption.
mudslide occurs when there are not enough trees that keep the land firm and this "falls".
an avalanche is like a mudslide but the snow falls which becomes too heavy and goes to bury everything.
a volcanic eruption occurs when a volcano starts to "blow" releasing ash and magma causing huge problems.
