Drug that may irritate stomach (aspirin, NSAID, steroid medication)
Treatment
Pharmacological
Antacids
MOA: Antacids contain alkaline ions that chemically neutralize stomach gastric acid, reducing damage and relieving pain

Magnesium Salt

Indication : Taken on an empty stomach, 5-10 mL as required

Calcium Carbonate
MOA: act quickly & has a prolonged action, and is a potent neutralizer of acid.
Indication: used as an antacid to relieve heartburn, acid indigestion, and upset stomach.
Simethicone
MOA: Reduce surface tension and allows easier elimination of gas from the gut by passing flatus or eructation.

Alginates
MOA: First line treatment for patient suffering from GORD. When in contact with gastric acid, the alginates precipitates out, forming a sponge-like matrix that floats on top of the stomach contents.

Non-pharmacological

Avoid milk, tea, carbonated drinks, acidic beverages

Outcome
if symptoms have not been improved within 5 days, the patient should see a doctor.
