Proteins - Coggle Diagram
Proteins
Definition: A functional biological molecule consisting of one or more polypeptides folded and coiled into a specific 3D structure.
3D Properties: To be able to preform their biological functions, a protein may undergo reversive structural changes.
They are 20 amino acids, Proteins play countless roles throughout the biological world. Despite this wide range of functions all proteins are made out of the same 20 amino acids, but in different conbination. A G U C
The ORF: A DNA wich has the potential to code for a protein or peptide. ORF is looking for the starting codon.
Ways to clasify the amino acids: By dtetrmining the bongs, charges or rings that are found in the respectives R-Group
-
Folding: The structure of a protein is created by the folding of a peptide chain back on it self, and sometimes the association of multiple peptide chains.
Primary structure: The order in which the amino acids are joined together. A simple linear sequence of amino acids.

Proteome: All proteins found in an organism are known as a proteome. They are is all genes of a cell, tissues and organisims. They can be saparated usinf electopfotesis
-
Alcohol Disrups H bonds: Alcohol denaturates proteins by disrupting the side chain intramolecular hydrogen bonding. Ex: Detergents and the same hapens with violent shaking
Single or more than polypeptide linked together: Some proteins are single polypeptides, others are composed of 2 or more polypeptides linked together.
