Al-Baqara : Allah Swt describes Mukminun (Believers): 5 Ayat, Kafirun (Disbelievers):2 Ayat & Munafiqun (Hypocrites):13 Ayat
Munafiqun: Enemies within Islam - Declares Islam but hides Kufur
Munafiqun - not easily identified unlike Kafirun who can be identified
Munafiqun - greatest danger to Islamic community (Medina)
Al-Baqara: longest chapter in Quran (286 Ayat)
Also known as Al-Qistaz (The Fence) covering many Islamic injunctions
Al-Baqara contains the longest Ayat in the Quran - Ayatul Dayn (2:282) - Verse of Loan describing conduct during giving of Loan i.e should be written & with 2 witnesses to avoid denial of given loan. To safeguard property & wealth of both Muslims and non-Muslims
Al-Baqara contains Ayatul Kursi - The Greatest Ayat in the Quran. Prophet Mohammad SAW said "Whoever reads Ayatul Kursi after every Solat, there's nothing stopping him from entering Jannah but Death"
Prophet Mohammad was reported to have said "Whoever reads the last two Ayat in Al-Baqara (2: 285-286) it is sufficient for him i.e. equivalent to having perform Qiyamul Layl".
These two ayat is equivalent to Adiyah (Supplication) and Azkar (Pl: Zikir).
In general, these two ayat describe Allah's rahmat towards this Ummah
In principle, we are not punished for thinking wrongdoings if we don't actualise it"
Relationship Al-Baqara & Al-Fatiha & Al-Imran
In Al-Fatiha: "We seek Guidance to the Straight Path"
Allah SWT responded in Al-Baqarah: "The guidance you are looking for is in this Kitab"
Allah SWT describes the Dos & the Don'ts & the moral values to attain. It basically describes the injunctions of Islam. Al-Baqarah lays down the Usuluddin (Fundamentals) of Ad-Deen (Religion), with elaborations in Surah Al-Imran
Al-Baqarah also contains the Last Ayat to be revealed (2:281) - Fear the day when we are returned to Allah SWT (Taqwa of Qiyamah) where we will be rewarded justly according to our Deeds. Ayat 2:281 revealed 8 day before passing of Prophet SAW.
Saidina Umar advised on our preparation for this Day of Return ie. how much & quality of Amal Solih. Our success depends on the weight of our Amal
Surat Al-Imran
Islam is the only accepted by Allah SWT. Whoever receives this Message of Islam by Prophet SAW but does not believe in it, Allah will not grant forgiveness
Ayat 3:31 - If we love Allah SWT, follow Prophet SAW, then Allah SWT will love us.
Following the Prophet SAW is mandated in the same way as following the Syariah revealed by Allah SWT is mandated
