Breathing and circulation - Coggle Diagram
Breathing and circulation
oxygen is taken into the blood
carbon dioxide and water vapoure are exhaled
Trachea
Bronchi
Lungs
Bronchioles
Alveoli
Oxygen goes into blood capillaries
Breathing = diaphragm and rib muscles contracting and relaxing
Blood = plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets
Plasma is the liquid part of the blood
Red blood cells carry oxygen
Haemoglobin binds the oxygen in red blood cells
White blood cells fight infection and protect us from disease
Blood vessels
Arteries
Carry blood away from the heart with thick walls
Veins
Contain valves to prevent backflow
Capillaries
Thin walls allow diffusion
Heart
Blood is pumped from the right to collect oxygen and dispose of carbon dioxide
Blood returns to the left
Oxygenated blood pumped from the left delivers oxygen and collects carbon dioxide waste
Heartbeat causes pulse
