Synthesis
What happens:
a synthesis reaction happens when two reactants (they can be element + element, compound + compound or element + compound) are combined (with the absorption of some heat) and then combine into a single product (and when the reaction is taking place, more heat is released)
Exothermic reaction:
it requires some, but it releases more. for example, for the chemical reaction of iron sulfide requires some heat for it to happen, but when the reaction is taking place it releases a lot of heat. which makes it an Exothermic reaction as it *releases heat
Meaning:
It is a reaction that occurs when two or more reactants are combined to form a single product (A + B → AB)

Combustion
Meaning
Combustion is a chemical reaction that occurs between a fuel and an oxidizing agent that produces energy, usually in the form of heat and light.

Examples

CH4 + O2 => H2O + CO2
reaction of methane with oxygen
2C2H6 + O2 => 10CO2 + 4H2O
reaction of ethane with oxygen
What happens?
A substance reacts rapidly with oxygen and gives off heat. The original substance is called the fuel, and the source of oxygen is called the oxidizer.

Decomposition
What Happens: The bonds between the element in the single reaction begin to break, causing the elements to separate from each other and form several different products from the one reactant
It is usually and endothermic reaction, as it takes energy from its surroundings to break the bonds.
Endothermic reaction
Meaning:Decomposition reactions happen when a single reactant produces multiple product. In this reaction the elements in the product are being broken up and the reactant is decomposing.

Displacement
Meaning:Displacement reactions occur when two metals from the electrochemical series (which means they have a potential for reduction are combined.
This type of reaction is exothermic because it releases energy due to fact that the atoms are going to a lower energy state

What happens?: A metal gets replaced by another metal. A metal cannot be replaced by a non-metal and a non-metal cannot be replaced by a metal.
