- - - - My dad and my grandma has fueled my passion for food and cooking. But, it is more than food, it is about the stories and traditions that it maintains and the conversations you have making the food and also when you finally sit down and eat it. My earliest memories with my family in Cyprus are eating large meals surrounded with people I love, and that is the power of food.
    - - My father grew up in a wartime, where he was actually forced out of his home, and he had to deal with a lot of loss. Even today a lot of my relatives still live a village lifestyle, which is a very minimalistic way of life. The way I was raised is viewed as luxury in comparison to a lot of my relatives and through that I live by the saying, "count your blessings," and I will always live by that.
    - - Family is very important to my dad's side, and through their greek culture. Even though all of my dad's side lives halfway across the world, they stay in touch with me more than my family on my mom's side, who lives much closer. They make me feel loved and have made me a person who is very passionate about building, developing, and maintaining strong relationships.
    - - My grandma stopped going to school when she was 11, and had to become the mom for her 4 siblings, and further my dad and his 3 siblings. She has made her own cheese, olive oil, and bread (amongst many other things) until she passed when she was 84. She is my biggest influence in my life, and she will always inspire me to be independent and stay strong.
