Why social class matters- Social class determines huge aspects of life, from your education to beliefs, values, occupation, income, not only how you live but how you die. Classes have a huge impact on how parents teach their kids and their beliefs and values they pass on. A large component of class differences plays out through educational attainment and its consequences for successes later in life. Higher class families usually have a bigger stepping stone for the future generation to have, making it hard for people to climb up the social ladder. For example, schools have "legacy students" whose parents or family attended the college which leads them towards jobs and success later in life. Political and economic power tend to be concentrated near the top of the social class ladder. The last class difference is health, mortality, and disease rates vary by social class with the upper class. Reasons being able to afford health care, being to able to buy healthy food, and higher classes are less likely to have a job which exposes them to dangerous materials
