The Importance of being Earnest is Wilde's most famous play. the first act takes place in London's West End. her the aristocrat Algernon Moncrieff waits for the arrival of his aunt, Lady Bracknell, for a tea. he is surprised by the intrusion of his friend, Earnest, who has come to propose to Lady Bracknell's daughter, Gwendolen. Algernon find out that the his is friend is actually Jack Worthing, who lives in the country and not in London. Also his friend Algernon has invented an invalid friend, Bumbury, who needs a lot of attentions. Alernon wants to marry Cecily, Earnest's niece, while Earnest wants to marry Gwendolen. In the end they both succeed in marrying the women they want.
