Children who experienced severe forms of neglect usually require therapeutic intervention and highly supportive care.
For example, just removing a child who has been instituitionalized for more than 6 months from the institute is insufficient for recovery, as severe impairments in cognitive, physical and psychosocial developments have already occurred.
