Claustrophobic & Anxiety
claustrophobia might trigger anxiety attack so it is highly related
calm them down and be patient with them
drug stimulants like sedation
calm music and well lit room
peaceful surrounding like sky ceiling or waterfalls
proper explanation of the whole process
so that they understand what they are in for and thus no need to be afraid
PTSD & Alzheimer
Alzheimer patients are often terrified or confused with their surrounding
make them get used to a routine
have the same team member treating them
try to treat him at the same time everyday
be patient with them as they might act suddenly
PTSD patients ofter have a trigger
be attentive of their condition know their triggers
if treatment condition simulate their trigger, calm them down
reassure them that you are treating them and not trying to harm them
let them know that you are observing them always and will be there if anything happens
Learning Difficulties
often require sedation or maybe anaesthesia
frequent sedation or anaesthesia might give side effects to the patients
like cognitive dysfunction that might worsen their learning disabilities
can also advice the caregivers & let them explain to the patients
as patients usually trust their caregivers more than strangers
proper use of tone & easy words and repetition should be done
bribery with things they love as a treat for doing well
LGBT Issues
being open-minded and professional towards them
do not look down on them
gain some knowledge on how to address them & their issues
ensure their comfortability in order to gain their trust
maintain their privacy & confidentiality
ask them for their preferences
whether they are okay with mixing with other patients in the waiting room
whether they are okay with mix genders being in the treatment team
Paediatric patients & Caregiver issues
supportive caregivers are often those who understand the child's disease
this will help the child cooperate better
as mutual trust has been built between the team member, the patient and the caregivers
reassure the parents with adequate knowledge
provide thorough explanation and information
uncooperative patients are usually sedated or treated under anaesthesia
may affect child's growth or physical injury like ulcers in the larynx
gaining trust from the child by developing understanding
using soft tones and easy words when talking
being patient and giving treats when they cooperate during treatment
Sexual Problems
patients have different concerns
some worry about their own sex drive
some worry about how their partners feel
some are afraid of fertility issues
providing adequate knowledge and understanding on why they are allowed to do some things and vice versa
ensure their partner also understands their current situation
mutual understanding leads to a healthy sex life
opt for new ways to satisfy their sexual needs
provide options to address their concerns
like managing infertility
using different types of protection
