The end of the war
The year 1968 was a turning point in the Vietnam War that greatly affected the nations political life.
The American people were shocked that an enemy supposedly close to defeat could launch such a large-scale attack, after the president said the US was about to win the war.
In January of 1968, the Vietcong launched surprise attacks on cities throughout South Vietnam
When the US started to expand the war again, people started to protest on college campuses
North Vietnam wanted the withdrawal of all U.S troops and the government of South Vietnam to include communist representatives.

On January 27, 1973, negotiators signed a peace agreement

After 3 decades of fighting, Vietnam was united under a communist government.

After WW2, Vietnam declared its independence and fights a war with France who claimed is was still a French colony

In 1955, the US supported Ngo Dinh Diem for South Vietnam leader, with US backing, refused to hold elections, and cracked down on Communists in the south
In 1959, the north Vietnamese began a war against the Diem regime in the south
To stop the spread of communism in Southeast Asia, the US became involved in a war in Vietnam
Early Cold war
A war between America and the Soviet Union over the control of Korea. Both countries wanted different things, and both wanted control.
Started as soon as World War 2 ended, in 1949
America wanted to stop the spread of communism, so they wanted Korea to be non-communist, However, the Soviet Union wanted the country to be communist.
North Korea sent a surprise attack on the US and ended up driving our military to the bottom of South Korea.
The US then retaliates and calls upon the UN and pushes them to the top of the north. Finally, the Soviet Union calls upon China, and pushes them back to their side of Korea.

China turned communist, so they also wanted to make Korea communist.
So, they helped to push us back to our territory.
