you could look at different myths and find recurrent patterns -> what can you infer about greek/roman/chinese culture? if you're looking at chinese myths i suggest you stick to a type of mythology (like cosmology + creation myths etc)
the inevitability of fate (this is mostly greco-roman, at least to my knowledge)

an interesting source if you want to look at myths is ovid's metamorphoses (bc that's where we get a lot of our myths nowadays)
