Plantations

The plantations in the West Indies (a region of the North Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean) were much bigger than the ones in North America.
Because of the size, the W.indies had to get more slaves to work on the plantation. They usually had around 150 slaves

Replacing slaves was very common in the W.Indies because the mortality rate was high and birthrate was low,so there would be a constant flow of slaves
