PYROLYSIS - Coggle Diagram
PYROLYSIS
Definition
• Thermal decomposition through the application of intense, indirect heat in the absence of oxygen
• Waste material is reduced to syngas, bio-oil & biochar
• When takes place in presence of water, it is called hydrous pyrolysis
-
-
Uses
-
Syngas
-
• Has around half of the energy of natural gas. It can be used as a fuel to generate electricity or steam
• Immediate combustion of the syngas eliminates most of the noxious elements, resulting in clean emmissions
Biochar
-
-
• Highly absorbent. Increase the soil’s ability to retain water, nutrients, prevent water contamination
-
Disadvantages
-
-
• At higher moisture content, high level of water produce
