Reported speech vs. direct speech
Both mean the same
When do we use it?
It's used to summarise what someone ssays.
It's used to communicate the message of what was actually said.

Difference between say and tell
Say something
Ex
. he said he was going to join us.
Tell somebody
Ex
. He told me that he was going to join us.
Told has to be followed by an object without to.
Questions
Indirect speech
- what time is it?
We inverse the subject and the verb.
Reported speech
-He ask me what time it was.
We keep the order of a statement and do not inverse the subject to th verb.
