Contoling Body Temp and Nervous System
What is Homeostasis
This is how our body control the internal body condtions known as "Internal Enviroment"
Why is it important
It is important so that we maintian optuim body condtions for cellular enzymes, if the body temp goes to high than the enzymes will denature and become useless
What is controlled
Body temp
If the body temp gets to high then it will cause the enzymes to denature.
Water content of the body
Without water cells will die and then the animal will die.
Blood glucose concentration
Without glucose cells wont be able to make enzymes and protians.
Parts involved in Homeostasis
Receptors:
These cells detcet the change in the internal enviroment, these changes are known as stimuli, this infomation is transmitted to a CNS throw neurons (sensory).
Coordination Centers:
This is the part of the body that responds to the stimlus, these then work out what needs to happen to prevent any damage.
CNS
The CNS is in two:
Spinal Cord
Brain
Effectors:
These are muscles or glands that do what the CNS want, this could be realsing sweat or a muscle pulling the hand away
Stimulants
A change in the environment
The types of responce
Chemical
This is a responce in your hormone system
Nervous
This is a responce in your nervous system
The Nervous System
Impulses are sent up neurons to the CNS, the neurons are called Sensory Neurons.
The brain gets lots of infomation from the sensory neurons, the CNS works out what to do ans then sends impules down neurons to other parts of the body, these neurons are called motor neurons.
Why do we have the nervous system
Without it we wouldn't be able to do anything as the parts of the body couldn't comunicate with each other.
Another key reason is that most animals need to eat, find food and a mate. This is what the nervous system.
Receptor cells
These cells like the light receptors in eyes are very simlar to most cells with a nucleus, cytoplasm and cell membrane.
