Period 1
All of the class are introduced to the topic using the same image which I will put on the projector. We will discuss the names of the planets. This group will read their worksheets and take note of all unknown vocabulary. Using their translators, they can translate each word.

Period 2
For this exercise the students will be expected to complete all these questions with correct sentence structure based on the differentiated handout. It will be collected at the end of class and corrected.

Middle 12
Period 2
For this group I will tell them that there are a number of verbs on the page. They are to write them out using the layout to the left. They will begin during class, complete one for homework and finish them in the next period. This will be followed by underlining as many as possible of the nouns and translating/understanding.

Period 3
Students will be expected to compete all of the verbs in today's class or for homework. I will also push them to begin underlining nouns and finding out their meaning.

During this period I will hand out the first worksheet, which will test their knowledge of the names of the planets and ask the students to connect the word to the correct planet. This will be followed by the next worksheet which will be handed out immediately afterwards.
I will then play a video with English subtitles of which some will understand a lot, some a little and some non at all, but the aim of the video is to visualise the solar system and get them excited about this topic. While the video is being played I will begin grading the pre-assessment. Students with 3 or less are in the weakest group, students with 4-6 are in the middle group and students with 7 or 8 are in the strongest group.
