IMAGINATION
AOKs and imagination
Arts: reform the way in which understand the world for example, anomalous narration and experimental shapes
mathematics: to create theories and abstract numbers the knowledge requires more than reason and perception
-
-
Definition:
The ability to imagine the world around us in the absence of stimuli. Through imagination we are able to create new mental images and representations.
Neurology Perspective
Prefrontal cortex: Part of the brain responsible for the recognision of objects. It is involved in all complew cognitive functions
-
Mental Synthesis
-
Theory: the prefrontal cortex neurons sends electrical signals down the neural fibres to several neuronal ensembles in the posterior cortex
Limitations: Some neurons are further away from the prefrontal cortex than others, so signals can arrive out of sync
-
Neurons in the prefrontal cortex are linked to the ones in the posterior cortex via cell extensions called NEURAL FIBRES
-
Neural fibres are wrapped by an insulating substance called myelin that can speed up electrical signals going down the fibres
advantages:
form new images, ideas, concepts and new knowledge that arenāt present in the real world
limitations:
can extend and reform concept of reality, relies on other WOKs to confirm a concept or idea, can distort sense of truth, can distort medical research and experimental studies
