Metallic bonding

-
-
Properties of metals
High melting points because it takes a lot of energy to break the electrostatic attraction between positive ions and negative electrons
-
Covalent bonding
-
-
A covalent bond consists of a shared pair of electrons: The attraction of the opposite nuclei for the shared pair of electrons
The positive protons in the nucleus attract the negative electrons which are being shared. This is called an electrostatic attraction.

-
Do not conduct electricity because of the fact that there are no charged particles which are free to move
