thesis
so yes i believe that cheerleading is a sport
Cheerleading is proven to be one of the most dangerous sports for women, but yet many people just say that cheerleading is easy and not a sport when its proven to be very unsafe and hard to do.
2nd argument
Cheer is a non stop sport, yes you get breaks but it goes on for a long time, constanty either lifting someone up or tumbling, it takes alot of strength.
Cheer is a sport that you need lots of paitence in. You dont always get things right the first time. You can't get frustrated easily, and have to be prepared to work very hard.
I do cheer, and it can get extremely hard, you have to have alot of trust and teamwork with your teammates, and nothing works without them.
1st agrument
Many people think that cheer is just a hobby, and that its not a sport, you just go "go team woo!" but its nothing like that. you use all of your strength and if you don't do it right, you could seriously injure someone.
cheer practices are not just tumbling and stunting, and jumping. The thing that also comes with cheer is stretching, and conditioning. If you don't do something right then you have to condition, and you don't stop till your coach says you can stop.
The American Medical Association says cheerleading should be considered a sport because of its rigors and risks. Cheerleading is very fun but also can be dangeous due to stunts and tumbling.
3rd argument
Being a good cheerleader is very difficult. You need to be flexible and be strong if your a base lifting up your flyer and if your a flyer you need to be tight and squeeze in order to stay up. But being a good cheerleader is not just about the strength but also about the effort you put in and your attitude to do things.
Competitive cheerleading requires a lot of effort as well as energy and competion. Some teams can be harder to beat than others. If you want to win you need facials, tightness, and hit your routine.
Cheerleading is a physical activity and requires just as much effort as any other sport. Some people mistake competitive cheer for cheer girls who use pom-poms and stand at the side of the feild yelling at football players but thats incorrect.
