The cinema was visited by millions of people who would see the films at a time
The government was concerned that the film industry was being controlled by communists.
In 1947, 41 members of the numerous productions in Hollywood were questioned by the HUCA
19 people were convicted as communist but only 10 pleaded their rights to the first amendment
All ten were sent to prison for 1 year
Most of their careers were greatly affected and some of them never worked in the film industry again.
As a result of this the increase of anti-communist propaganda drastically rose
