The Moon's gravity isn't as strong as the Earth's. However it is strong enough to influence the tides on Earth

When the water comes inland

When the water moves further away from the land

It is when one celestial body moves in the shadow of another
Solar eclipse
The Moon blocks the light from the Sun and the sunlight can't reach the Earth
Lunar eclipse
The Earth blocks the light from the Sun.
