vomit tan in color and smells like bm
abdomen distended hyperactive pain in middle of the stomach
pain 5/10 with cramping
last bowel movement was 5 days ago
tenting skin turgor and dry mucous membranes
Pathophysiology
obstruction or blockage occurs without vascular compromise
obstruction or blockage occurs without vascular compromise
the proximal bowel distends, and distal segment collapses
Medical interventions
NG tube was placed inside pt stomach
administered electrolytes and pain medication
monitored labs
Nursing interventions
elevate head of bed to be vomiting
strict i&o
monitor vital signs
Medication
IV Fentanyl 25 micro gram every hour as needed
0.9 NS 75 mL/hr
Nursing considerations
pt had hernia repair 3 weeks ago
the pain comes and goes intermittently
Patient education
Remain NPO for surgery
