Difference between Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes Fatima Nadeem AS Level Biology 9 May 2020
Nucleus: No true nucleus . No membrane bound organelles (Nucleoid).
single chromosomes.
Flagellum if present simple, built from two proteins.
cell walls made of Peptidoglycan .
Small ribosomes.
Tough cell wall.
Circular DNA
E.g: Bacterial cell
Liner DNA in nucleus.
Size of Cell: 10 to 100 mm in diameter.
Nucleus: has distinct nucleus. Covered by nuclear envelope.
Several membrane bound organelles.
Several chromosomes
Chemically simple cell walls. cellulose : plant , Chitin: fungi.
Flagellum if present complex , built from microtubules.
May have cila.
Large DNA
E.g: Cells of multicellular organisms.like Plants and animals cell
Lacks cytoskeleton.
Prokaryotes: size 0.2 to 2.0 mm in diameter.
