Breakfast on the beach #2
Hang on.
Sounds like Peter surrendered, so Jesus forgave
Like a
quid pro quo
Think about one of J's most enduring stories - Prodigal son
Tell story
The son decided to surrender unconditionally
'I'm not worthy - treat me like a worker'
Turned back to home
But the father was already waiting for him
My son was dead, but now he is alive
Unconditional forgiveness
Jesus was waiting on the beach, to meet him at his point of need (breakfast). But with unconditional forgiveness
Jesus didn't wait for Peter's uncond. surrender
But he needed him to turn around
To be able to accept uncond forgiveness
Peter didn't need to list all the things he was sorry about - J knew
In our confessions
We will never be able to list everything
We do need to surrender unconditionally, but when we do we find he's already there, with arms outstretched, and fish cooking on the fire.
Perhaps you need to put on your coat, and jump out of the boat
