Type of fossil fuels
Coal
Is a solid fossil fuel.
Until 1960´s it was the primary world´s resource.
Today most coal is burned in power plants to produce electricity.
Petroleum
Is a liquid fossil fuel.
The ancient Egyptians used it as a medicine for wounds and as a fuel in lamps.
Today we use a lot of petroleum.
Natural Gas
Is a fossil fuel that is a mixture of gases.
Today natural gas is used to heat and produce electricity.
Fosils are non-renewable energy resources. They take million of years to form, you can find many fossils in air and water pollution.
Using Fossil Fuels
When fossils burn gases are produced.
Organisms that can´t adjust to the warmer tempetatures would die.
Acid precipitation is other gases released when fossil fuels burn and combine with water vapor in the air.
Burning fossil fuels also leads to smog, a brownish-yellowfish haze the settles over some areas on sunny days.
Reducing Fossil Fuel Problems
To reduce the harmful effects of fossil is to use less fossil fuel.
